Personality and Aptitude Tests

June 27, 2019

Optimus Learning School understands that it is challenging for students to decide on a major or career path. To help overcome this issue, we offer three separate personality or aptitude tests. These tests measure the student's characteristics and interests to help lead them in the direction of a major or career that fits their personality. For $50, the student can take all three tests.

The first test is the MBTI or the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. This test indicated the student's personality based on four key areas. One of these areas is extroversion or introversion, which tells you whether you are an introvert or extrovert. The next area is sensing or intuition, which tests how the student obtains and retains the information they learn. The third area is thinking or feeling, which considers if their decisions are made using logic or emotion. The last area is judging or perceiving, which determines if they are a person who is open-minded or close-minded.

The second test is based on John Holland's RIASEC theory of career choice; this test will measure a student’s interest instead of personality. We include this test along with the personality tests to get a clearer image of what major and career best fits the student. The test calculates a student's interest in six different areas. These areas include realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional.

The third test that students will take will be the DISC Personality Test, which demonstrates how they will do in the workforce. Each letter of the name stands for a personality type. The “D” stands for dominance or shows leadership skills. The “I” stands for Influence, which means they work well in a team. The “S” stands for Steadiness, which means they will be a calm and collected person in a group or organization. The last letter “C” stands for Conscientiousness, which means this person is very detailed-oriented and works better individually. All three of these tests will evaluate the student and give a better view of what major and career will best suit them for the future.
