Fun Math Games for Kids

March 1, 2022

Looking for a fun way for your kids to learn and practice their math skills? A common way for students to learn and have fun with math is to play math games on the computer, but even that may get boring sometimes. Try these three new ways for kids to learn and practice math with you and your friends and family!

1.   Math Facts Checkers

Do your students need to practice or memorize math facts? This is a great way for your kids to learn their math facts and have a great time doing it.

This game works for simple addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication facts and can be used over and over again. Just write any types of math facts in the gray squares in the worksheet above and when the student’s checker lands on the square, they have to solve it correctly before they can stay on that square.

2.   Math Obstacle Course

Do you need an exercise and a math activity for your kids? A math obstacle course is a great way for students to get outside and learn too! You can use anything around the house to make those students exercise and to pass each obstacle, have the kids answer the type of math fact to practice.

For example, you could write hopscotch in chalk on the sidewalk and write different math facts in each square. If the student hops on the square, they have to answer it before they can move on to the next one. You could also set up tunnels and at the entrance of each tunnel, have a word problem they have to solve before they can enter and move on to the next one.

3.   Guess that Shape

This game is a silly way for students to learn some geometry!

Have students draw one shape on a post it note and make sure that the other players don’t see it. Then, have the student turn the post-it over and give it to the player on their left. Once they all get different post-its, have them place the post-it on their head so they can see it. Then, pick one player to go first, they must ask yes or no questions to try to guess the shape on their head!

These games are a great way to spend time with your friends and family and learn while doing it!
